  1. 1.  Lydia CHANDLER was born in 1614 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co, MA (daughter of Edmund CHANDLER and Jane GITTON); died in 1651 in Eastham, Barnstable Co, MA.

    Notes:

Concerning the complex and controversial lineage of the family of Edmund Chandler, the current lineage given here for daughter Lydia wife of Richard Higgins appears to be correct per the Edmund Chandler Family Association.

In Edmund's will, Lydia's name is absent because she was deceased:
[Pope, p. 93]: Edmund Chandler/Chaundler, creditor of Godbert Godbertson, frm 1633; res. at D uxbury 1636-7; constable; appraiser of est. of Wm. Thomas. Will dated 3 May, prob. 4 June 1662, being old. Req. to children Samuel, Benjamin, Joseph, Sarah, Ann, Mary and Ruth.

    Notes:

    Doug notes 2008:
Research by the Edmund Chandler Family Association, considered many genealogies proposed or assumed, and sometimes published for Edmund. The results reported by Dick Chandler (http://www.edmundchandler.com/Documents/originate.html) states that there is no known, documented lineage for this Edmund Chandler. He has been associated with a number of known Edmund Chandlers, but without documentation, and often documents do exist which disprove or tend to disprove those associations.

Edmund apparently had two wives, and what is and isn't proven is a complex subject. The list of children given here, may or may not all be his proven children, and may have been by more than one wife.

Edmund married Jane GITTON in 1608. Jane was born about 1591; and died. [Group Sheet]

  2. 3.  Jane GITTON was born about 1591; and died.

    Notes:

Apparently, it has not been proven that Jane Gitton (Gytton/Gytten) was the wife of this Edmund Chandler.

    Children:
    1. Benjamin CHANDLER was born about 1609; died in 1691 in Scituate, Plymouth Co, MA.
    2. Samuel CHANDLER was born on 16 May 1611; and died.
