BLGS2001 contains an impressive pedigree for this family, taking it back many generations. We place the early generations reported there in the 'Ancient & Mythical section of the database and note that its connection to the undershown appears to rely on the presumption that the following Malcolm was the same person as Macbeth mac Angus. It should be noted that that early pedigree contradicts what Sir Robert Dugdale reported in his 'Baronage of Scotland' where, in the section on the Macgregor of Macgregor, he identifies Gregor or Gregory, Abbot of Dunkeld (d c1169 having "lived to be the oldest bishop of his time"), as undoubted ancestor of the Macnabs, specifically reporting that their were not descended from "the abbot of Glendochart, where there never was an abbacy". | Angus (I9308)

Born at Groton, in Suffolk, February 12, 1605/06, he was fitted for college in the celebrated Free Grammar School founded by Edward VI. at Bury St. Edmunds, where he learned to think and act for himself, as every boy of spirit must when away from home and thrown upon his own resources. p.1...(Sketch)
He had now entered the seventieth year of a life which had
involved unremitting exertion and much exposure to severity of climate. It is not therefore to be wondered at that the pressure of physical infirmities had begun to bear heavily upon him, but when, for the third time, he asked permission to relinquish the helm to a younger pilot, proposing to recruit his health by a voyage to England,'(^2) he was met by such a chorus of remonstrance that he resigned himself to die in harness, nor had he long to wait. In September, 1675, he proceeded to Boston to attend a protracted session of the Commissioners of the United Colonies. In March, 1676, when preparing to return to Hartford, he took cold, became feeble, and on the 10th of April was laid beside his father in what is now King's Chapel grave-yard. - "Sketch of John Winthrop the Younger" p.58 | Winthrop, Gov. Born in Olympia, Molly was one of two of Walter's and Ella's children born in Washington. Apparently, Walter and his brother Emmett migrated to Washington to take part in the paper industry's mills in Oakville, Grays Harbor County, Washington.
"In the 1800's more lumber tonnage was shipped from Oakville than any other town West of Chicago, Sawmills and shake mills lined the creeks. The logging industry supported the thriving city of Oakville until the middle of the 20th century." - On oakville-wa.org from the Montesano Vidette, October 20, 2005 in the Pages of the Past, 100 Years ago, October 20, 1905.

Transcription of Frost/Couch genealogy ...
Joseph 4th married Lucy Couch, daughter of Johnathan and Eunice of Reading, Connecticut. They were married
September 19, 1781 or 2. Joseph Frost died in 1844 and his wife died April 8th 1843.__Joseph Frost was a
soldier of the American Revolution: according to State Records of Connecticut he was a private in Col. Benjamin
Hinman's Regiment in 1775: he was honorably discharged Sept. 11, 1775. June 16, 1777 he enlisted as private in
Captain Elijah [Alil]'s company. Colonel Burr Bradley's Regiment. He must have served between 1775 and 1777
as the records say he was taken prisoner at Fort Washington, November 16th, 1776, when Lord Howe captured
the fort.__Joseph Frost and two brothers, one named Dimon, were taken prisoner and put on board an old prison
hulk in New York Harbor.__They then endured great privations and suffering, and his two brothers died in the
prison ship. During the war, Joseph was wounded in the leg and late in life received a pension for his services in
the Revolution. In 1803, he and his family left Reading, Connecticut and settled in Schuyler County, New York
State. He owned several farms in Connecticut and was in good circumstances, but removed to New York thinking
the new country afforded better opportunities for his children

Notes provided by Chris Barry:
From Orange County deeds and mortgages (Orange County Government Center, Goshen NY): James Hoey and
wife Nancy conveyed a lot on Oakley Street, Montgomery NY to William Hammond 9 Sep. 1841 (72:65), and an
adjoining lot 30 Nov. 1843 (79:310). William took out a mortgage from Hoey 18 Jan. 1842 (47:423), a debt not
satisfied until 1913 (474:190). William's son John Hammond and wife Carrie DeHart sold their interest in the
property to William's daughter Mary J. Van Steenburgh 7 Oct. 1889 (370:274) and it is her name that appears on a
lot map, circa 1900, indicating a house on the west side of Oakley St. Under the column "Of how many children
the parent" in the 1865 NY State Census, is listed 6 for William
Hammond.
On 12 March 1867, William Hammond and three others were sworn in as fire wardens of Montgomery. (Town
records 1810-1873; microfilm at Newburgh Free Library). From the Republican And Standard And Wallkill Valley
Times, Montgomery NY, Sat. 29 Apr. 1871, Pg. 3: "Mr. William Hammond and his son Johnny, the enterprising
masoners of this village, finished plastering the new depot at Springtown, half way between New Paltz and
Rosendale, last week." The Montgomery Village Directory, printed within the Orange County Directory 1878-9, Pg.
412, lists William E. Hammond, mason, residing on Oakley St.
From the Republican And Standard And Wallkill Valley Times, Montgomery NY, Friday 17 Dec. 1880, Vol. XVII,
No. 9, Pg. 3 (microfilm at NY State Library, Albany):
Headline: William Hammond.
"Mr. Hammond died very suddenly at his residence in this village, on Monday evening last. He had been down to
the village during the early part of the evening, at the store of Mr. Mould, and went home very soon after, carrying
a pan of lard. Upon reaching home he remarked to his wife as he sat down in his chair, that it had tired him very
much. She carried the pan down into the cellar, and while there, she heard a gurgling sound, and on reaching the
room again, she found him lying upon the floor dead. "Mr. Hammond had all through his life been a rugged and
healthy man with no disease whatever, and it was from this fact that his death was very sudden and unexpected to all. "Like a dash of lightning, a break of the wave, He passed from life, to his rest in the grave. He passed from
the highway of active, arduous life, on to that other life that opens in eternity without a moment to reflect or even
to rest from his toil. Mr. Hammond had been long known as a master workman in his business of stone masonry -
and he was a master of his trade. By hard work, industry and economy, he had saved enough to purchase a neat
home and many things to make life pleasant in later years. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. A
son employed in the Erie freight office at Newburgh, and a daughter, the wife of Mr. William G. Morris of the same
place, while Montgomery loses a most valuable mechanic."
Slightly less detailed versions of the above story appeared in the Middletown Daily Press of 14 Dec. 1880, and
The Orange County Press, Fri. 17 Dec. 1880.
An inventory of William E. Hammond's estate includes mention of a family Bible and family pictures.

C.F.O Litherland Obituary
Charles Francis O. litherland, only son of the Late Joseph and Catherine Litherland was born on the Litherland homestead, Nov. 31, 1866, departed this life, Sept. 27, 1925, making his age 58 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
Some four weeks ago he became ill, taking with a chill, since that time he has been ailing but his condition was not considered serious until the last of the week when on Saturday morning he was taken to Evansville.
Dr. Long pronounced the main trouble Leukenia [this is how the obit reads] which is an over supply of white corpuscles in the blood, a very rare disease but fatal.
At the age of 19 he confessed his faith in Christ and was buried with Him in baptism under the ministry of W. R. Couch at Adams Courner.
About four years ago he united with the Presbyterian church at Wabash.
He was united in marriage to Lydia C. Leoffler on Nov. 30, 1893 by Rev. Herbert Baldridge. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Ruth Reed of near Patton, Waldo, living on the old home place and Levi and Agnes at home who with four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Simon Cozine, Mrs. W. O. Leek and Mrs. Clyde Shepard and a host of friends left to mourn their loss; his father mother and one sister preceded him in death.
He was an ardent Sunday school worker having filled the office of president of County Sunday school work. At present he was business manager of the financial work of the Sunday school work. He was a teacher of the men's class of his church.
For some cause, we know not why, That from our loved ones we must part;
The Lord knows best, on his rely, He knows what blessing to impart.
And He prepared for us a place Where pain and sorrow can not come;
Where we may view his glorious face, When weary toiling here are done.
A place where faithful meet once more,
In glad, unbroken bonds of love;
Forever on that blissful shore, Prepared for us, yes, far above.

From the Independent Republican, Goshen, Orange County NY, Fri. Sept. 10, 1852, Vol. XL No. 8, pg. 2, col. 3:
"On Saturday evening some three weeks since, just before engaging in family worship, Mr. Calvin Couch, of
Montgomery, sat down on the floor to fill a camphene lamp - the lamp stood on the floor beside him, and the
wicks were ignorantly or carelessly left burning. The lamp exploded, the burning camphene flew over him, and
his clothes being of cotton material, were instantly on fire, and he was soon enveloped by the flames. In agony or
in fright, he ran out in the open air, and before the flames could be extinguished, he was burned in a shocking
manner. He died on Tuesday of last week. He was a good citizen, and an industrious and enterprising farmer.
Yours & c., B."
