Elizabeth is not shown in the 1860 census with the rest of the family, and also not shown in 1880. She only appears in the 1870 census...where she appears in birth order just after William and before David. In 1870, Elizabeth is represented as born around 1854; however, her siblings in that same census are represented as being about 2 years younger than the same siblings in the earliest census where they appeared before 1870. Because of this, I have adjusted Elizabeth's estimated birth year to 1850, between William and David. In either case (1851 or 1854), she was apparently the daughter of Henry & Chlo Sadler, even though she does not show up until after Henry's marriage to Araminta White. She could easily have been living with relatives for a time. | Sadler, Elizabeth M. (I18797)

Elizabeth shows up in census records as Madeleine Fernandez Vannier's daughter; however, she was born some time after the death of Madeleine's husband, Jacob. Whether she was adopted or otherwise regarded as a daughter is so far unknown. One census record actually states her birth as November 1871, rather than just a crude birth year estimation. | Vannier, Elizabeth (I6391)

Enlisted as a Lieutenant 2nd Class on 19 November 1861. Enlisted in Company F, 14th Infantry Regiment Kentucky on 10 December 1861. Promoted to Full Lieutenant 1st Class on 11 August 1864. Promoted to Full Captain on 1 July 1865. Mustered out Company F, 14th Infantry Regiment Kentucky on 15 September 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky. Was grazed in the head by a bullet during the battle for the control of the Cumberland Gap in Tazewell, Tennessee. On the 1890 Veteran Census he's living in Culberson, Boyd County and census notes say, "Gunshot in head and side of head." Obituary: "Capt. J. H. Sperry, one of the most prominent pioneer citizens of the county, died at his home near Palermo, Sunday (December 4, 1910), as the result of sudden stroke of paralasys. "Captain" Sperry was a man of great principle; honest, industrious and every ready to extend a helping hand to the unfortune and needy; a good neighbor, an excellent citizen and truly may it be said, the county has sustained a great loss - the people a sincere friend. Mr. Sperry was one of the great multitude of brave men who wore the blue through the Civil war and assisted in preserving the Union. We knew him as a man who always denounced wrong and upheld and praised the right, and having closed his earthly career at the age of 78 years, we feel that his race has been run well, and that God has said "Well done thou good and faithful servant," and has called him to enter into that never perishing home of the happiness." Erin is a word which refers to the country, Ireland, apparently anglicized from Éirann. Ethelfleda married the regent of Mercia, Ethelred, (Ealdorman of the Mercians). This marriage set the final seal upon the cooperation of the South and Midlands. He died in 911, and his widow succeeded him as ruler of Mercia. She was known as "the Lady of the Mercians." She aided his brother Edward I., the Elder, in conquering the Danelaw and its Five Boroughs. In 918, the Danish resistance in East Anglia collapsed, and all the Danish leaders submitted to Edward as their protector and lord. They were granted in return their estates and the right to live according to their Danish customs. At the same time "the Lady of the Mercians" conquered Leicester, and received even from York offers of submission. In this hour of success Ethelfleda died, and Edward was invited by the nobles of Mercia to occupy the vacant throne. | OF ENGLAND, Elfrida (I5787)

Ethelred II., the Unready was born in 968, a boy of ten when he became king in 978. He died April 23, 1016 in London, reigning for thirty-eight years from 979 to 1016. He was the last of the Boy Kings. The epitaph "The Unready" which is usually assigned to him is a misrepresentation of a word which properly means the Rede-less, the man without counsel. He was entirely without the qualities which befit a king. He married in 984 (1) Elfflaed (Elgifa) (Aelfgifu), daughter of Earl Thorad. | KING OF ENGLAND, Ethelred II 'the Unready' (I5774)

Ethelwulf(Aethelwulf), "Noble Wolf," son of Egbert, reigned from 839 to 857 in Wessex, England. During his reign the Danes miserably spoiled England, daring to winter there for the first time. In 851 Ethelwulf routed them at Okely in Surrey. By the advise of St. Swithin, Bishop of Winchester, he granted to the church the tithe of all his dominions. He died January 13, 858. He married (1) Lady Osburga (Osburh) (Osberga), daughter of Earl Oslac, the royal cup-bearer. From this first marriage they had a son. | KING OF WESSEX, Ethelwulf (I5789)

Even the birthplace of Henry Howe Connor himself is in doubt; the dates found on his gravestone, his death certificate, the papers of his pension application and the census records being at wide variance. These dates range from as early as 1819 to as late as 1825. A search for his birth record at Somerset House, London was reported as not feasible because of the lack of an exact year or place for search for Henry Connor's birth record...birthplace is given in his death certificate as Canterbury which is in Kent, England. - Ancestral Lines of Chester Everts Howell | Connor, Henry Howe (I2534)

Find A Grave entry (never a primary source) gives Henry's exact birth date in 1833 from his gravestone; however, the 1850, 1860 & 1870 censuses indicate a birth year around 1836-1837...more appropriate to his mother, Catharina's (Katrina's) age. This may indicate that the Heinrich, son of Nicholas is not this Heinrich Ruhl, husband of Fredericka Rinne. First Prince of Wales, 1301; Edward reigned from 1307 until 1327 when he was deposed on January 21, 1327 and murdered by a red-hot poker in his bowels. His reign was troubled by extravagances, military disasters in Scotland (notably at Bannockburn in 1314), and the unpopularity of his favorite peers, Gaveston (who died in 1312) and Hugh le Despencer (1262-1326). He was the first Prince of Wales.
Edward Plantaganet II., of Caernarvon, Prince of Wales, ascended to the throne as King Edward II. He was born at Caernarvon Castle, in Wales, on April 25, 1284. By charter dated February 7, 1301 he rescinded a grant of the principality of Wales and the county of Chester. He married, on January 28, 1307/08, Isabella of France, daughter of King Philip IV, the Fair, King of France. She died August 22, 1358. Incapable as a ruler and pleasure loving, he reigned for twenty years, being advised at first by Piers Gaveston, whom the barons disliked and murdered in 1312. In 1314 King Edward II. was defeated by the Scots at the battle of Bannockburn. The Despencers later controlled the government; they too were disliked, and by the Queen Isabella in particular. She returned to her native France, taking her son Edward with her and refused to return while the Despencer family was in power. King Edward's followers deserted him and on January 7, 1327 he was deposed by Parliament. He was later imprisoned at Kenilworth Castle and then at Berkeley Castle, where he was murdered September 21, 1327, and was buried at Gloucester. | PLANTAGANET, Edward II of Caernavon King of England (I6084)

For Joseph P. Couch, born 2/1/1865, Wabash County, Ill. The family members are listed as living in Wabash County, Illinois in 1870 census records. Joseph P. married Margaret Anderson (born 10/17/1868, Ill.) on 2/24/1887. Shortly after they married, they moved west to Oakville, Washington. In 1900, they appear in the 1900 census of Edwards County, Illinois, with one daughter and three sons (all born in Washington). In 1910, Joseph and Margaret were in Jackson County, Illinois, with one daughter and six sons.
In 1920, Joseph and Margaret were still living in Jackson County, Illinois with four sons. Kenneth Earl Couch (born on 8/27/1904), one of the sons born in Illinois, was now a minister living in Reynolds County, Missouri and married Hallene Mercedes Demson Couch on 10/26, 1927. Sometime before 1930, Joseph and Margaret moved to live with Kenneth and Mercedes. Joseph P. Couch died, 10/21/1933 in Carter County, Missouri. Margaret A. Couch died on 1/17/1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They are buried in a Smith Cemetery, Alton, Oregon County, Missouri together with Kenneth Couch who died in 1970 and Mercedes who died in 1965.

Foulques exerted his control over his vassals and was later caught up in dynatic quarrels between the French and English kings. In 2218, his son Georggrey Plantagenet married Matilda, daughter of Henry I of England, and became the progenitor of England's branch of the Angevin dynasty. Fulk visited Palestine in 1120 and returned in 1129 to marry Melisend, daughter of King Baldwin II of Jerusalem. Fulk became King of Jerusalem on Baldwin II's death in 1131 and spent the first year of his reign settling a dispute in Antioch (Turkey) and putting down a revolt led by his wife's lover, Hugh de Le Puiset. In 1137, he allied himself with the Byzantines against a Turkish leader, 'Imad ad-Din Zangi, of Mosul (Iraq) and in 1140 helped the Muslims of Damascus ward off Zangi's armies. He protected Jerusalem in the south by constructing a series of fortresses, including Krak of Moab.

11-37-1851 People Vs Couch, Silas M, Common nuisance: sowing foul seed on public lands
Notes provided by Chris Barry:
In April 1851, a Yates County, New York grand jury indicted Silas M. Couch on a charge of creating a common
nuisance. The petition alleges he "did maliciously, wickedly, unlawfully & wilfully plant, sow, scutter and
spread" the seeds of "certain noxious and hurtful plants, weeds and vegetables" on public lands, making the land
"entirely useless and valueless to the good and honest citizens." District Attorney D.I. Sunderlin is unsparing in
his description of the alleged offender: "Silas M. Couch, late of the town of Jerusalem in the said County of
Yates, yeoman, being an evil dispised [sic] person and of a wicked and malicious disposition and unlawfully and
wilfully contriving how to harass and injure the good citizens..." (From Yates County Court Records, Indictments
1823-1899, locator 11-37, photocopies courtesy Yates County Historian). The outcome of the case is not clear
from the record at hand, but it is hoped that Silas' only offense was planting the seeds of legal hyperbole.
Silas M. Couch, 59, farmer, appears in the 1870 U.S. Census of Tyrone, Schuyler County NY, pg. 6, dwelling
45, family 48 (enum. 27 July 1870). Listed with him are Margaret, 54, Mary, 31, Daniel, 29, Joseph, 25, Susan,
20 and Elizabeth, 18. The 1875 NY State Census lists Silas and Margaret, along with children Mary A., Daniel
R., Susan C. and Elizabeth in Canandaigua, Ontario County (Election District 1, pg. 14, family 119, enum. 8 June
1875). Silas is not enumerated with his wife and family in the 1880 U.S. Census (see notes for Margaret).
His will, dated 15 Jan. 1891, says he is of Jerusalem, Yates County, NY. William T. Hurd is named executor.
Bequests to: "Wilson S. Couch One hundred and fifty dollars."
"Second...The remainder of my estate I bequeath to the Presbyterian Church for the education of poor children."
"Before the above legacies are paid my executor shall procure a suitable tombstone and pay all my funeral
expenses."
"The amount given by me to my brother Wilson S. Couch is the legacy received by me from my sister Sally M.
Coon."
The 1892 NY State Census of Jerusalem, Yates County, lists Silas M. Crouch [sic], 80, after the family of
Benjamin Egleston. (1st Election District, pg. 11). The family of J. Stephen Raymond follows.
Petition for proof of will, dated 12 Oct. 1894, says the estate is worth $900 and lists heirs Daniel R. Couch, son,
Susan Brown, daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Emerson, daughter, all of Canandaigua. (From Yates County Office of
Public History, will file 129C).

Stephen embarked on the "Fortune" in July of 1621, and arrived at Provincetown on Cape Cod on November 9th. There were about 30 young passengers aboard the vessel detined for Plymouth Colony. After searching for the colonists for about 3 , the young men were ready to steal the sail of the ship when the colony was found. Nearing starvation, the colonists agreed to go on half-rations in order to support the new arrivals.
In 1627, Stephen purchased one acre of land and married Elizabeth Ring. By 1633, he was in position to request permission from the colony council to build the first mill in the colony. It was erected near his house and Billington Sea, andably pouded corn to separate it from the hull for making samp, an Indian substitute for bread.
Stephen purchased the Godbertson house in the center of the village on March 10, 1634, but only six months later, in September, he died. His estate was valued at over 45 pounds, including the house, garden, and mill, plus land at Fresh Lakidow Elizabeth remarried Josiah Cooke the following year, and moved to Eastham.

From: Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah, by Frank Esshom
Daniel Burch was privileged to live 53 years of earth life, but in that short span of time he had so many vital experiences, displayed such undaunted courage and demonstrated his industry and skill in so many ways, that the good example of his life shines out to his posterity like a bright beacon light, guiding the way to eternal life and happiness.
This man learned to put first things first. He was a versatile man of many skills, a man of industry and foresight. He had a strong faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had great respect for the early leaders of this church. When these leaders were inspired to lead the persecuted Saints from Nauvoo, Illinois, westward to seek a new home, Daniel Burch Jr. did not hesitate to fall in with the plan. he worked in the wagon shops of Nauvoo, where teams hauled in green timbers and the other materials to be used in making the wagons for their departure westward. Perhaps this was the wisest choice he ever made -- to make the hazardous trek from Nauvoo on west to the Rocky Mountains with his wife Ann and a family of seven children. For this choice gave his posterity the privilege of being born in one of the most colorful parts of our great nation. For those who prized the birthright that it made possible, it also meant the opportunity of being born "in the Covenant" and into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is traditional family information, handed down within the family, that Daniel Burch Sr., was Pennsylvania "Dutch" and that he had Americanized the spelling of the family name to Burch.
Daniel Burch Jr. was the son of Daniel Burch Sr., an immigrant from Germany.According to family records, Daniel Burch Sr. and his wife Rebecca Dumford (Hunter), a widow, were married in Clark County Kentucky, in 1795.
Because of widespread persecution of the Saints, a call went out from the Church leaders to all organized branches of the Church to gather in Nauvoo. No doubt it was very difficult for the Daniel Burch Jr. family to leave their loved ones and their established home in Springdale, but this is exactly what they did.
One can easily imagine Daniel Burch Jr. in the midst of these frantic preparations, participating in the constriction work, particularly in view of the mechanical skill that was later to be demonstrated many times of the trip west and in the settlement of Weber County. The the month of February, 1846, the Saints start to cross the Mississippi River on their westward move. Daniel Burch Jr. and his family were in the first groups to leave. They must have been valuable members of the migrating group. His wife was an intelligent, courageous women whose skills and understanding no doubt were helpful in many situations while making the trek across the plains in establishing a new home in the Rocky Mountains.
The family moved to Winter Quarters, and Daniel and Ann Burch received their Patriarchal Blessings before leaving for the Salt Lake Valley. These blessings were given February 12 and 22, 1848, by Issac Morley, Patriarch in the Camp of Israel, at Winter Quarters. The blessings are recorded in Patriarchal Blessings from 1847 to 1854, Morley, Volume 14 page 21. This book can be found in the Latter-Day Saints Church History Department in the Church Administration Building, Salt Lake City, Utah.
