Sperry, one of the most prominent pioneer citizens of the county, died at his home near Palermo, Sunday (December 4, 1910), as the result of sudden stroke of paralasys. "Captain" Sperry was a man of great principle; honest, industrious and every ready to extend a helping hand to the unfortune and needy; a good neighbor, an excellent citizen and truly may it be said, the county has sustained a great loss - the people a sincere friend. Mr. Sperry was one of the great multitude of brave men who wore the blue through the Civil war and assisted in preserving the Union. We knew him as a man who always denounced wrong and upheld and praised the right, and having closed his earthly career at the age of 78 years, we feel that his race has been run well, and that God has said "Well done thou good and faithful servant," and has called him to enter into that never perishing home of the happiness."
