Dayton is listed as Jr. in the 1870 census, apparently after a Dayton Sr. listed on the same page...perhaps an uncle or great uncle. Alternately, Dayton could have been adopted or raised by Theobald, whose siblings do not show a Dayton (Sr.)...or this Dayton Jr. could be a different Dayton, even though the year of approximate birth year, birth place and migration agrees it is him.
