Koontz Shuler Cemetery, Alma, Page Co, VA, USA

Notes:
NOTE: The farm area described in the directions below can actually be seen from Shuler Ln. along Hawksclaw Creek, not far west and north of where Shuler Ln. turns to go north by northwest. It is beyond Sparrowhawk Ln. From this vantage point on Shuler Ln. you can look west and see the farm and cemetery; however there does not appear to be a driveway or road leading to the farm from Shuler Ln.

Driving west from Alma on U.S. Hwy. 340, you cross the bridge over South Fork Shenandoah River. Immediately you see Shuler Ln. to the right (from which you can see the farm, but there is no drive from there). Continuing west on U.S. Hwy. 340, you will pass driveway roads that go both to the left and right before coming to another driveway road that goes only to the right, splitting to service 3 separate houses. Just beyond this driveway, is a stand of trees, in the middle of which is an unnamed road that goes to the right only.

As you go north and slightly east on this road, you come to 2-3 buildings with a couple of silos. The road splits there. Easiest to describe: Take the left fork passing those buildings on your right, and immediately passing to larger buildings with 4 silos on your left. Beyond the driveways to these two buildings (one of which is also a left side road), continue more northward on the main road between some forest on both the left and right of the road, passing 3 more large buildings with 6 silos. Just as you pass these, the road turns left between those buildings and a 4th building of that group (plus some smaller outbuildings). At this point, you leave that main road and follow a tire tracks trail road that goes to the right of the 4th building and its outbuildings. Shortly after, that tire track road goes behind the 4th building, but instead of following it there, you should see it split with a fork turning sharp right along the tree line. Follow that tire track road through a field with trees on both sides of the field and you will see a farm with a single tall silo next to a small shed or outbuilding with rusty red roof...with a larger barn or house structure with light-colored roof to the right. Before you arrive at this farm area, look to the left along the tree line on the north side of the tire track road you're on. Back in the trees as you pass the last of that forest patch, you should see the cemetery. It may be better to park and walk that last tire track road, depending on condition or the permission-desires of the folks there.
